The Advantages of Oiling Parquet with a Two-Component Natural Oil: LIOS Bioil 2K

In previous articles, we explored different finishes for treating and protecting parquet, such as lacquers and oils. Oils can be further categorized into natural oils, wax-based oils, and colored oils.
This article focuses on a finish that can be considered an advanced solution for both aesthetic appeal and wood protection. Thanks to its two-component composition (oil and crosslinker), it offers enhanced hardness, durability, and optimal resistance to scratches, abrasions, and stains.
Chimiver offers a two-component oil for wooden floors that, when mixed during application, creates a more robust protective layer than single-component oils.
Two-Component Oil for Parquet
LIOS Bioil 2K is a high-performance two-component treatment that provides exceptional chemical and physical resistance for protecting wooden floors. Applied in a single coat, this oil gives parquet excellent coverage, a warm and soft look, and easy maintenance. Formulated with natural plant-based oils, it contains no water or solvents, making it VOC-free.
LIOS Bioil 2K is available in two versions:
- STANDARD: Natural-colored oil that protects wood while preserving its original color.
- COLORED: Pigmented oil that protects and alters the wood’s final color.
What Are the Benefits of Two-Component Parquet Oil?
Two-component parquet oil offers numerous advantages over traditional single-component oils:
- High Resistance: Its two-component formula creates a more durable protective layer, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as offices, commercial spaces, or home environments like living rooms and entryways. Its protection is comparable to lacquers but retains the aesthetic and tactile qualities of oil.
- Stain and Liquid Resistance: The two-component formula forms a barrier that protects against stains, scratches, and liquid penetration, making it ideal for moisture-prone areas such as kitchens or bathrooms.
- Natural and Uniform Finish: Unlike lacquers, which often create a glossy or plastic-like finish, two-component oil penetrates deeply without altering the wood’s natural appearance. It highlights the grain and texture, resulting in a matte or slightly satin finish that enhances the authentic beauty of parquet.
- Faster Drying Time: Compared to traditional oils, two-component oils dry more quickly, allowing for faster completion of parquet treatment. Always check the product’s technical data sheet for specific drying times.
- Long-Lasting Durability: This oil is designed to last longer, reducing the need for frequent maintenance.
- Easy Maintenance: Parquet treated with two-component oil can be renewed without sanding the entire floor. Simply apply a maintenance layer periodically to keep it in excellent condition.
- Single Cycle Application: Unlike single-component oils requiring multiple coats, two-component oil requires just one application for complete treatment.
Overall, two-component oil is an excellent choice for those seeking a combination of natural aesthetics and superior durability for their wooden floors.
